Warfare
July 25, 2020
Spiritual warfare. We fight it every single day. Satan wants nothing but to bring us down to his level in any way he can. He is constantly at work, but his schemes will come to nothing when we stand against him with our authority found in Jesus. We are equipped by our Creator to fight these battles.
What does God command us to do in the face of warfare? Ephesians 6:13 says, “Take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.” David Guzik says that “without the strength of God and the protection of spiritual armor, it is impossible to stand against the attacks of spiritual enemies... When Satan attacks, we are to stand.”
Stand. One word that holds so much meaning. It indicates more than we may think unless studied on a deeper level. David Guzik makes these points of what the word “stand” really indicates:
It means we are going to be attacked.
It means that we must not be frightened.
It means that we are at our position and alert.
It means that we must not droop or slouch; nor be uncertain or half-hearted in the fight.
It means that we do not even give a thought to retreat.
We are not called to go into spiritual warfare on the behalf of our good God... we are already in it. We are still to stand firm and fight. Not with a mindset that it will be easy, but knowing we are equipped and prepared by the One who has conquered it all on the cross. Though the battle rages on the war has already been won. Satan has been defeated. So, are you still sitting or are you up on your feet?
What are you facing today? What do you need to take a stand against? What do you need to look at in your life and know that God already has it in His hands?
