I’m thankful God’s character isn’t dependent on what happens in this fallen world. I’m thankful that the brutality and the worst of pains isn’t the end for us— that Mack is in the arms of Jesus where suffering is no more.

I felt as if I was watching my life slip away in slow motion as the days went on and the desire to give up entirely grew stronger. 

Reminder that taking your thoughts captive takes practice and strength that comes only from Jesus. You’re not failing at letting God transform your mind if certain thoughts and fears trigger your body into a fight, flight, or freeze response.

His love is constant, it reaches out to us and pursues us without cease. I can’t think of a greater love than the image in my mind of the father who ran to meet his prodigal son. We have a Father who runs to meet us wherever we are, His open arms wrapping us in an endless love.

So here is the poem I wrote in the time where my hurting heart was finding refuge, rebuking the enemy’s attempt to silence what Jesus wants to hear so that He can meet us where we need His saving grace.

…Oh, what a truth I want to live out as a reality we can live in today because of the mighty work of Jesus. How are you going to live in a way that speaks the name of Jesus? What vision of our Father are you going to show others as you let your faith remain active in love for God and all of His people?

I can’t help but wonder what chains will fall and what revival will break out if we shift our new year expectations of bettering ourselves to holding the expectation that, when we give God our yes and remain obedient, He will work for our good and His glory.

When life gets cold and barren, are we gathering in the presence of Jesus, decorating our hearts with His Word, exchanging our burdens for His peace? … It was the waiting that created incredible significance in Jesus as our Savior.

But God knew what He was doing– nourishing His people with the reminder that He alone brought them out of Egypt. Nourishing His people with the truth that He provides in order to fulfill His promises in His perfect timing.

If Jesus is not rightfully holding authority in your life, who or what have you placed on the throne? What lies are you tirelessly scrambling to satisfy as you live to answer to the enemy? What would it look like to put Jesus back on the throne?

Every single time God tells us not to be afraid in His Word, it’s followed by a promise. Those promises have nothing to do with our own strength, and everything to do with who our God is.

These questions will let you take that bite of pumpkin pie with a smile on your face. Let’s remember who He is and what He’s done for us this week… and every week for the rest of our lives.

I look at that picture of myself as a little girl and it brings tears to my eyes to think about how Jesus would talk to her, crown her as His daughter… The beautiful thing is, His love for me is no different today than it was then.

How am I reacting to hardship? Am I standing in and operating from a place of victory that Jesus has given me, even when it feels hard and exhausting?

God accepts us as we are, but God doesn’t accept our fleshly desire to stay where He finds us… What act of sincere faith would mark your submission to our almighty God?

The question is, am I willing to accept what Jesus is giving me, even if it’s uncomfortable in its unfamiliarity to what I’ve let myself believe for so long? 

As the Lord has changed and transformed my heart and mind, so I will change and transform the name of this blog…
